An afternoon at the frozen pond!

Today we put on our new ice skates we got for Christmas.
The pond was frozen hard enough for us to practice skating!
It is very cold here. Everything is frozen solid.
Maman said this is unusual for Vancouver but she remembers weather like this when she was a girl.
Helena hadn't been ice skating before so I showed her what to do.

Helena never fell down once! She was really good at ice skating after the first half hour.
It was fun but we need warmer clothes.
We didn't stay out too long.

Ice skating is very good exercise!

Helena practicing by herself. Maman made her outfit in January 2011.

Maman made this outfit last year and in 2010.
She hopes to make new skating clothes for all of us.
It was a very fun afternoon!
Zoe had hot cocoa waiting for us and fresh chocolate chip cookies made by Ellowyne.
Do you know how to ice skate? We'd love to see your ice skating costumes.

It's so good to see Helena back from her travels! I am lad she and Yvette had a good time ice skating! Helena did so well for having never skated before.

Jacqueline has never skated either - perhaps she should give it a try- in a few weeks.
This week has been warm- all the snow is melted, and there is no ice anywhere. Today it is raining, but I am sure cold weather will return.
