Our Halloween Party

Anita is wearing a very pretty dress and apron which Maman bought at a doll show in Puyallup. None of us got to go with on the trip. But Madeline went in Tante Linda's suitcase. Our maman is quite addled these days. But yesterday was a Fun Day as we got to play again.

Here is Maman's Halloween tea table. We all love the orange, black and yellow decorations for Halloween. Tante Linda brought the brownies with orange icing and the ghost cookies, and Maman bought shortbread cookies and chocolate mint. It all looked very delicious.
Tante Leona gave the beautiful orange flowers in the middle.
We also love black cats!

Here is our Maman in the orange sweater.
Tante Linda is the other human here.
And the animal in the middle is Kelsie, our dog.

Pointe Claire Academy!

Here I am, Yvette Marie, at Pointe Claire Academy day class.
This is the BSC challenge for October 2013.
Maman is so behind in things due to family emergencies that I got in just in time!
I helped Maman make my apron.
The class I chose to take is Victorian History.
Maman bought these lovely pictures at an antique show in the spring.
They are from cigarette boxes!
The pictures show Queen Victoria and her family.

My best friend Madeline came for the day class session.
Her apron has red stitching. Mine has orange. She is even wearing her whistle!
I don't know where mine went.

Here we are showing our aprons. Maman cut up Papa's old shirt.
It was very old but this piece made a nice apron.
After our history class we had a Halloween party.

Some pretty 1920 hats!

Tante Marie shared this page from Sears Roebuck and Co from the 1920s Catalogue.
We love all the hats! We love hats. Maman isn't sure how to make these ones.
I wonder why little girls don't wear hats anymore?
They would sure be nice to wear to church!

A very pretty hankie dress.

Oh just look at this bee-ooo-ti-ful dress!
It is made by Tante Marie S.
She sews very neatly and quickly.
We all just love this dress which used to be a hankie.
This is Violet.

The garden swing.

Maman set up the garden swing.
Phoebe loves it a lot!

Zoe's new outfit.

Hi everyone! This is Zoe.
This is an older picture.
I was waiting for summer in my new outfit.
Maman bought it from Build a Bear. It was only $7.00!
I also had an ice cream and a pop.
We have now had nearly 6 weeks of fun summer time!
Love from Zoe.

A beautiful summer dress!

We just found this on eBay.
We cannot copy and paste the link. We don't know how!
But the seller's name is "mmarek2005".
We really love this pretty dress. Don't you?

Something new and fun!

Hello everyone!
We haven't posted anything here for 3 whole months. Wow!
I wonder if you missed us?
Maman was very busy doing Family Tree things and travelling all over the countryside.
But we have two new sisters which were added to our family this year.
Fiona Barbie arrived on March 9th, and the new girl above came on April 15.
Her name is Anita. Marielle brought her home from France, but she has been very sick for a long time. She caught something on the cruise ship back and is finally up to taking pictures.

For the last week of July, the BSC challenge is a Pouting one where our Mamans must go out and shop so we stop pouting because we can't be at the UFDC convention in WA DC.
I will never ever forget when Maman and I went to convention in 2011!
Anyhow these are the items that Maman found the past few days.
Anita has a brand new dress made from a cute anchor print fabric.
She is sitting on a pretty carousel horse which was once a lamp.
She is holding a new umbrella to keep the sun off her fair complexion.
Two little frogs on in the pond. Part of the challenge was to find items which began with u, f, d, and c for UFDC. That was Tante Kimberly's idea. It was FUN for Maman to hunt for such things.
She was very surprised to find the carousel horse at a thrift store for only $7.99!
So this was a nice way to welcome Anita to our family.

Fun in France!

This is Zoe Marie, the winner of the pearl necklace from Paris!
She won the contest of trying to spot Marielle in the shopping arcade.
Zoe Marie said she loves her necklace so I am happy.

One evening before Evie and Juliette returned home to America, we all went out for a lovely dinner in a fancy restaurant in Paris. Isn't it gorgeous? Evie didn't get sick this time. Her tummy must have adjusted since she was here for 2 weeks. I get to stay here for a whole month. I just love it here.

A few days later I caught up with Emmy, my good friend from Canada.
Here we are by the Eiffel Tower. We loved touring on the Big Bus together.

We loved wearing our coats as it was a little chilly.

The sun came out as we posed by the French flag. I took my coat off because I was getting warm.

We had lunch at this little cafe near the Louvre.

After lunch we visited the Louvre. It has a very interesting entrance which looks like a pyramid!

Isn't this funny? Emmy didn't know what to make of it.

We loved all the old paintings. They are very beautiful.

The winner of the "Find Marielle Contest" is Tante INGRID!

Robinette and Phoebe helped draw the winner for the "Find Marielle" contest.
It is Tante Ingrid!
There were 18 Mamans who entered the drawing.
It was a lot of fun. Some of them did not see Marielle right away so she was hidden well.
Tante Isabelle was the very first one who spotted her so she has the most observant eye!
Merci beaucoup to everyone for playing our hide and seek game.
We do love games.

A Parisian quiz for you from Marielle!

While in Paris last weekend, Marielle discovered a wonderful shopping plaza!
She just "loves this place"!
Apparently she found some lovely perfume to bring home and is having it shipped to the Bleu Manoir.
She thought it would be FUN to hide in the shopping plaza, and so if you can spot her in the photo below, and email me at dragonfly3@telus.net as to her whereabouts, I will enter your name into a draw for a special Parisian treat for your Bleuette doll.
The drawing will take place on Friday, April 12, 2013.
To enter you MUST be a current member of the Bleuette Sewing Club online.
This is just some added fun to our current challenge; April in Paris.

Have fun!
Maman Loretta

More pictures of Paris!

I was in Strasbourg for only one night before I hurried away to Paris.
This was because of the Poupee sale at the Musee de Poupee.
Maman has wanted to visit this museum but a long time ago in 2007 she and Papa could not find it.
No one knew where it was when they got to Paris. They did not know the name.
But I did! It was such fun to look at all the dolls for sale.

I would really like this poupee! Isn't she sweet?

After the museum I took the tour bus. Here is another picture of the Eiffel Tower.
I am very tired. I came back to Strasbourg on the train late on Sunday night.
It is raining right now and it is making me very sleepy.
I will turn off the lights after I drink my hot cocoa and go to sleep.
Tomorrow I must shop for my folk costume.
Bonne nuit! Marielle xo

Pictures from Marielle in France!

Bonjour everyone!
That is the first word I learned how to say in French.
Here I am in Paris. I was there on the weekend.
It is so exciting here and so much to see and do all at once!
This is the lovely spring coat and hat Maman made for me.
It is a light blue knit wool.
The pattern used is GL 1948 Pratique. Tante Christine Bridy gave it to us.

This is my B & B in Strasbourg, Alsace!
It is so lovely here.
I will show a picture of my room before I leave on Wednesday.

This is a very famous place in Paris.

This was a lot of fun! I really like the Eiffel Tower!
I didn't go to the top. I am too scared.

I took a peek in here on Sunday morning.
I think I spotted Evie's pink hat and braids.
She is here too!
I will post more later.
I wish you were all here too. L'amour de Marielle

Marielle is in France!

We got this e-newsletter from Marielle today!
She was chosen by Maman to visit France for April.
Marielle will be visiting PARIS next week!
Here is what she wrote.

It all sounds so interesting, doesn't it?
I hope Marielle finds something nice for us!

Meet Fiona Barbi!

This is Fiona Barbi!
She is a very special Rosette doll, made and painted by Tante Barbi Kantor Goldenberg.
Maman really admires her painting on the faces of these Rosettes.
Tante Barbi was the first person to make this reproduction mold for Rosette, Bleuette's Big Sister.
Maman had emailed Tante Barbi in December 2011 about buying one of these lovely Rosettes but then Tante Barbi became very ill and she passed away and can't make any more of her lovely dolls.
Maman was so very sad. But then Tante Ren emailed her in January 2013 and said she had a Rosette to sell. Maman sewed her fingers nearly to the bone to save up enough money to buy her.
And here she is!

Maman made her a pretty Easter dress this week.
The delicious candies and container are from Maman's friend, Tante Linda.

Here is Fiona Barbi in her new Shamrock dress.
She arrived at our home on March 9, 2013.

We think she will love living here at the Bleu Manoir.

Our happy St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day was on March 17. That was nearly two weeks ago.
Maman took these photos a long time ago but she has been very busy sewing.
She was sewing for the Big Girls and then she has made two dresses for a new Big Sister.
We do not know quite what to make of that!
But in this photo we are amazed at the pot of gold we found in our Bleu Manoir back yard.

Maman made the two dresses on the right. Tante Georgia made the knitted dress.

We love having our clothes changed twice so far this year.
We are in a THEME for each season and it is fun!
Did you have a nice St. Patrick's Day?
Love from Yvette Marie and all the sisters.

Making things!

Today we had a lot of fun.
The weather turned cold and grey again.
But Maman printed something for us from the COMPUTER.
If you click on that word it will take you to the website and you can print it off too.
It's a neat banner for St. Patrick's Day, and a very cute hat too!
Robinette is wearing the hat. We might make some more for all of us.
It was quite easy to make.

I am laying on the couch. I worked in the garden yesterday so I was tired.
Do you see the sign on the fireplace?
We love to make things!

We love celebrations at the Bleu Manoir.
Do you celebrate the holidays?

Valentine's Day!

We are very far behind on our posts here at the Bleu Manoir!
Maman did fix up our rooms nicely and we do love our new bed.
We take turns sleeping in it of course. That means we take turns making the bed too!
There was a Big Sale at the Bleu Door Salon recently.
We helped Maman make these tiny Valentine cards. It was fun.
Maman made a few dollars but not hundreds. But every little bit helps of course.
Maman has something up her sleeve. It's a Big Surprise but we can't figure out what it might be.
I wonder if it's something for the kitchen now that the living room is complete?
We loved Valentine's Day. It was fun.
We hope you had a great day too!

Photos of the Bleu Manoir 2013

Robinette wishes to take the dog out for a walk, but Emily wants to play with her paper dolls.
Emily says that it's nice and cozy in the parlour by the fire place.

Phoebe is sitting by the sewing machine wondering where all the fabric went.
Someone was busy cleaning house yesterday!

Zoe can't close the sock drawer. Suddenly there are too many socks!
How can that be? Penelope is playing with the Chatty Cathy dolls on the bed.

It's a nice cozy Sunday afternoon at the Bleu Manoir!
All the Bleus are very happy to have a proper bedroom at last.
